General Gynecology
We recommend that any woman who is over the age of 18 or is sexually active receive an annual checkup by a doctor who focuses on the medical and emotional problems unique to her gender.
A yearly checkup is one of the best gifts you can give yourself, providing the reassurance that you have no abnormalities or changes in your breasts or pelvic organs. We will help you schedule a digital mammogram and give you a pelvic exam that may include Pap test to screen. We may check for infections and other anomalies of the female reproductive organs.
We are equipped to do more advanced screenings in-office when preliminary tests are inconclusive. We are proud to offer in-office hysteroscopy, which allows us to look at the lining of your uterus using a camera through the vagina and cervix. This nonsurgical procedure can be used to find the cause of abnormal bleeding or infertility or to remove growths, such as fibroids or polyps.
By detecting abnormalities early, we have the best chance of treating life-threatening diseases like breast, cervical or uterine cancer before they progress. When surgery is your best option for treatment, we provide leading-edge, minimally invasive procedures locally.
Dr. Ofori and his medical staff also offer treatment and sensitive counseling for the full range of female health issues, from requests for birth control to incontinence to problems with sex and intimacy. He is committed to helping his patients make effective and responsible decisions that improve both their physical and emotional health.
It is recommended women, 65 years and over, have a gynecological exam, once every two years or in certain cases, even yearly.
